What is a thread lift?
A thread lift is also known as a non-surgical facelift. It is a minimally invasive procedure that uses absorbable polydioxanone threads to pull, lift, and support the skin in the face and neck. The threads used are designed to have graspers which helps to suspend the skin, reducing any sagging areas in the face and neck. Due to the structure of the threads, a thread lift procedure also encourages the production of collagen. A higher production of collagen will result in a healthier and more youthful skin.
Do note that the polydioxanone threads will be absorbed into the body within six to eight months. However, the results of a thread lift will remain – after the threads have been dissolved – and can last up to two years.
What happens after a thread lift procedure?
After the thread lift procedure, patients may experience minor swelling and bruising. However, the swelling and bruising will subside within a few days. Some patients may also experience minimal pain and numbness. But for most patients, there is minimal to no downtime required. Patients can continue with their day as normal after the thread lift procedure. Do note that it is advisable to refrain from vigorous physical activity immediately after the procedure.
When done by a skilled professional, patients will not be able to see or feel the threads beneath the skin. The effects of the thread lift can also be seen immediately after the procedure. Though the threads will eventually dissolve in the body after six to eight months, the results of a thread lift procedure can last up to two years.
Who is a thread lift suitable for?
A thread lift procedure is suitable for both men and women with early signs of aging. Candidates with premature aging do not have excessively loose and hanging skin, but will experience sagging in their face and neck. Such individuals will benefit from a thread lift, as it is able to reverse premature aging without the need to undergo a surgical procedure. It is also perfect for people who are seeking a convenient, minimally invasive, and low risk alternative to the traditional facelift.
Do note that the thread lift procedure is not suitable for those with thin and fragile skin, pronounced sagging in the face and neck, and little facial fat. During a consultation session, our doctors will advise if a thread lift procedure is suitable for your skin condition.
